1.  Free Delivery and Free Returns

Site visitors may love your products but hesitate on the shipping fee. Don’t lose out on a sale by being greedy on shipping fees. It’s 2021- customers don’t want to pay for shipping! 

Flower delivery company Roxanas London does this well by creating a Monday to Friday free standard delivery promo for their gorgeous bouquets:

Free returns, on the other hand, ease the worries of customers buying from you for the first time. You can build trust by ensuring that if they change their mind or need to return their order for any reason, they won’t have to pay for shipping.

2. Holiday Sale

Holidays are the perfect time to create new promos: customers are in a celebratory mood. As people anticipate giving and receiving gifts, make it easier for them to choose your brand to buy from. To make effective holiday promotions, plan early and mark the most important dates relevant to your brand, your location, or your culture.

For example, Holistic Habitat welcomed summer with a 20% discount for their customers to take advantage of.

Specialty apparel store Bam Socks put out a timely Father’s Day promotion message:

Plan your holiday sales promos in advance and don’t miss the small ones in between like Earth Day and PRIDE!

Perhaps the most eye-catching and popular sales promotion is the BOGO. For a limited time, customers can enjoy or try out your best-sellers for a considerably lower price. Your business will gain a lot from BOGOs, too. These sales promos can clear out your inventory at a faster rate.


For example, My Taggr recently did a promotion that sells 4 of their specialized cases at a time and they only make you pay for 3.

There are many ways to utilize a BOGO promo. While traditionally limited to “Buy One, Get One” deals, you can get  creative with how you present your offers.


For example, novelty and comical apparel store Chowdaheadz offers a “mystery gift” when you spend as low as $20.

If you’re into modern chic living, check out Sokoni Homestore. Their product page banners combine the attraction of % discounts and BOGOs through their messaging.

The key to a good  “Buy One Get One” sales promo is offering your most in-demand products in one package.


Superfood Outlet offers 2 of their Vegan Protein Blends for £20, instead of £24.

4. Cause-related

Many modern customers root their purchases in their values. So, when your brand offers them opportunities to contribute to a cause, it gives them more motivation to make a purchase.

While you may already be sharing your values through customized product page banners, dedicating a sales promo banner for a good cause would be a great new marketing strategy.

Taking part in a cause-related sale would help customers feel good about you, their purchase and themselves.

Short-term offers significantly contribute to encouraging customers to make a purchase. Creating this sense of urgency with a promo is a huge factor in making more sales than you would with an ordinary product page.

To make your sales promotions truly lucrative, be sure to create ones that are realistic and sustainable. You don’t want to end up shortchanging your business just to please your customers. Don’t go sale-crazy!
